Old Faithful Inn and Village

Old Faithful Village is a fairly large area with Old Faithful Inn, Snow Lodge, cabins, and Old Faithful Lodge which is now cafeteria, gift shop, etc. There is also a large geyser area beyond Old Faithful with several miles of walkways. One is paved and allows bicycles.

We only spent a short time with the geysers here as we knew we had a big day and we wanted to see Old Faithful Inn. The Inn was built in 1903-4. The inn architect, Robert C. Reamer, was only 30 years old at the time the inn was built. He situated the building so that visitors driving up to the front door could see Old Faithful Geyser as they arrived.

We didn't cover a lot of the geyser area. On our way over to Old Faithful Inn we encountered more Bison with 2 calves.

I love how the heat and minerals have weathered the wood railings and walkways.
The boardwalk crossed a river and about 30 or 40 yards away it looked like a bird sitting in the middle of the river. This is zoomed in 10x and as you can see it is a piece of driftwood.
She jumped into the woods again!

They were serving a buffet in the dining room. There weren't very many people there at the time as there was an Old Faithful Blow scheduled, so we decided to go in and eat.
The posts had this beautiful wood carving.
By the time we finished eating the place had really filled up because the Old Faithful Blow had ended.
