Mel Goldberg & Rob Mohr

Mel Goldberg's poetry and short stories have appeared on line and in print in The United Kingdom, The United States, Mexico, New Zealand, and Australia.

After earning an advanced degree in literature, Mel taught in California, Illinois, Arizona and as a Fulbright Exchange Teacher at Stanground College in Cambridgeshire, England. Professional artist Bev Kephart and Mel lived in and traveled in a small motorhome throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico for seven years. They now live in Ajijic.

Mel will be reading from his new novel Catch a Killer, Save the World. The story: Although his uncle had died fighting Syrians in Israel’s 1948 War of Independence, Jewish detective Aaron Guerevich investigates the murders of two Syrian-American Muslims.  His life is imperiled by a secret anti-Arab vigilante group and his investigation uncovers a long-hidden connection between his uncle and the family of the slain Muslims.

Rob Mohr will read a short selection of his new poems which will be part of a second book of poetry to be published later this year.

  • Poems are a way of saying what cannot be said another way.
  • They create their own world as a reflection or shadow of what I experienced or observed.
  • Rather than rhyme my poems have an inner beat and rhythm.
  • Ultimately, poetry is the art of weaving words together to create a new vision of life, a new world that expands our understanding of what it means to be human.

Rob's new poems reflect a positive change of direction in his life. Their voice is hopeful and open.
