Robert Bruce Drynan

Robert Bruce Drynan's writing career began at age fourteen with a history of the American Civil War. Later, he destroyed his first literary effort. One of his characters in this collection comments, "Telling a story is never enough if the writer hasn't experienced life."

Experience began with failure: flunking out of college, and the loss of an athletic scholarship. But things quickly changed for the better ... military service in Germany at the peak of the Cold War, redemption, a graduate school degree in international business and finding and marrying his life partner.

Living, working and traveling throughout Latin America during the height of Marxist guerrilla wars and the development of the narcotics traffic that followed set the scene for his first novel, Domain of the Scorpion. He returned to Europe for two years, much of that time traveling in the Soviet Union and Satellite countries. Later, business travel in Asia added icing to the cake.

His writing draws on the experiences and the people he enountered during those years. He now resides in Mexico.
