We spent two full days and three nights in Salt Lake City. The RV park was very nice and there was a light rail stop right across the street that took us into downtown.
I had figured out our entire schedule beforehand, and our days in Salt Lake just fit in as our schedule worked out. Our full days there was a Wednesday and a Thursday and that worked out just perfectly. The Tabernacle has an organ recital at 12:30 every Wednesdays and the Mormon Tabernacle quoir practices every Thursday evening and is open to the public.
We took the light rail train into the City around 10 am. We wanted to catch the Organ Recital at 12:30 and didn't really know how long it would take to get in.
It turned out that we arrived long before 12:30, but that turned out to be a good thing as there was another practice going on in Assembly Hall with a pianist and two violinists. This turned out to be even more inspiring than the organ concert.
We drove out the he Great Salt Lakes in the morning of the second day. They were a little sad and underwhelming, but we were expecting that.
We listened to a 30 minute video about the history of the Salt Lakes in the information center and it was very interesting. The lake has gone up and down in level over time, so hopefully it is just a down turn right now.
We went back in to Tabernacle Square in the early evening. The choir practice was supposed to start at 7: 30, but when they let us into the building about 7 they had already started.
The practice was very interesting. The choir director would give them instruction on things like pronunciation and enunciation while they were singing. They would go over short little pieces of a song and then after a while sing the full piece.
